#10. They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969)

This film is one of the most nihilistic and brilliantly bleak films I have ever seen and it had a hauntingly clear message. It didn't hold back at all in its brutal honesty, I didn't know whether I loved or hated it. It was so emotionally draining but I loved every second!

#9. Ocean's Eight (2018)

Talk about an all-star cast! This film is just so much fun and I think I could literally watch it every day. As such a big fan of the original, I was apprehensive but let me tell you this film does not disappoint!

#8. Scream (1996)

I'm not a big lover of horror films, but this is my one exception that I could happily just watch again and again. I think it's authentically terrifying and was way ahead of its time. All of those meta scenes? Genius.

#7. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016)

Due to Andy Samberg's many years of being the highlight of Saturday Night Live, he doesn't need to prove that he might be the funniest man alive, yet he does it here effortlessly. I think the man literally owns the mockumentary genre at this point.

#6. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

This has been one of my favourite films for as long as I can remember. It was so stunningly made and it warms my heart every time I watch it. It balances the dark and light very delicately, and is very hard to match. I don't think it'll ever get old.

#5. Bridesmaids (2011)

On the count of three, everyone shout "PAVED THE WAY FOR WOMEN'S COMEDY!!!"

Honestly I don't think I have ever laughed so hard during a film. This film is so sharply written and every single performance, no matter how small, scores.

#4. The Hunger Games Franchise (2012-2015)

The Hunger Games films are the very reason I became so passionate about films. I have always thought, and will always think, that they redefined the young adult film genre and will be recognised for years to come. There is something very special about these films.

You're probably starting to notice that Jennifer Lawrence is a recurring feature in this list, and this film is exactly why. In my whole life, I have never seen such a powerful performance. Watching this film was a surreal experience and I think about it every day. It's just truly horrifying.

#2. Nine to Five (1980)

Nine to Five may be nearing 40 years old, but it is still one of the most relevant films around today. It was way ahead of its time, and literally started an entire movement for better treatment of working women. Also, it gave us the best song of all-time (thank you, Dolly Parton)

#1. Carol (2015)

This mesmerises me in a way that a film never has before. I think it is absolutely stunning, and it makes me feel so many different emotions that I can't even begin to explain.

Cate Blanchett's performance is completely right. I think she was born for the role and she elevates the film stunningly.
